  2. Afrrican Americans needed poltical recognition to perform their marchs and boycotts to prove their rights. Thats when JFK stood in at first he wasnt all for it due to his election and because he needed votes from the south. In the end after he won he started helping out in the civil rights movement. What was needed was the Civil Rights act law to be passed which it waas in 1964-1965. Although after it was passed it wasnt offically enforced. There were many matry deaths. Huge riots in Watts began to break out which shows this spread across the nation to California. Soon across the world after MLK began to preach about the war in Vietnam. 3. I think the main thing that the government needed to do was end segregation. This gave African Americans public equality. Also, laws needed to be put in place to end racism and discrimination with housing, jobs, and more. People discriminating against blacks or other races should face a penalty.

  4. African Americans during the 1950's were severely discriminated against. They were not included in the "american dream", the whites were all cought up in it and forgot about other's hopes and aspirations(didn't care). Whites wanted their perfect lives, and they didn't care about others. One of the "biggies" was the bus transportation system. According to the American Dream, everyone had cars, so the bus and its problems of seggregation were not important. Thus they put this aside and decided to ignore it untill it become an $economic$ problem. I think the only governemt action necessary was making seggregation and racism unconstitutional.

  5. The African American people had to fight for their civil rights, but they were humans and they should not have had to fight for their right just because they were from Africa and their skin tone was a different color. The raciest people prevent the African American people from getting a job and having a normal life and they were unable to have a regular life.

  6. African Americans faced segregation, and discrimination. The intervention that was needed by the government was an eyeopener towards the colored community. The eyeopener that they got was that African American's decided to not follow the rules and wanted to be heard.

  7. Public segregation and discrimination was some of the things african americans had to go through. and lynching for example Emmit Till and his tragic story. The government finally noticed what was going on because for a while it seemed as if the governemt was a little slapdash about it. and black power started spreading like wildfire which was more of a physical attempt for civil rights.

  8. African Americans faced many hardships during the 1950's/ 1960's era such as descrimination and refusal service at any restraunt or buisness. African Americans were seen as animals and pests to white americans, some in which disagreed with freedom of african americans. The Klu Klux KLan (kkk) was a united group of white suprmises members who murdered and lynched african americans that came across thier way. Segregation was a unsuccessful Law that did not keep peace but caused more tension, The Boycott led by Dr. Martin Luther King and followers brought a new idea to the table to retaliate in a kalm non violent manner. If it wasnt for Leaders such as Martin Luther King and Malcom X this wouuld not be apart of today's History.

  9. Well in that time period we were segregated. Blacks and whites went to different schools and even drank from seperate water fountains,(wich is utterly rediculous). If a white person was seen with a black person they were looked at differently through the eyes of the whites. black people were living in seperate neighborhoods. Blacks had to sit in the back of any type public transportation. Rosa parks decided to sit in the front of a bus and got arrested. Blacks were also treated differently from whites and had very little freedom.
