America's enters WWI

Was Wilson justified in entering WWI in 1917?

  1. Yes, I think President Wilson was justified in entering WWI in 1917 because the US was going to be attacked by Germany and Mexico according to the Zimmerman Note if they didn't take action. Sinking of American ships by German U-Boats was also uncalled for, and America was right in fighting back.

  2. No because the US was neutral. We were not against Germany and not on France and Great Britian's side. We should not have jumped into a war that was not about us. If we did not enter the war, maybe Germany would have won and Hilter would 've never been in reign. It was not worth entering the war because we brought disease and millions died. I know lots of stuff happened that made Wilson enter the war, but it was not worth it. He was about democracy and wanting to help people and countries but sometimes countries have to help themselves. Even Wilson said that.

  3. I do think that Wilson was justified in entering WWI in 1917. The US had alot of alliances that deserved to be backed up in war. Also if we did not enter the war, the central powers especially germany would have taken over. This could potentially threaten the lives of everyday Americans. Also when we intercepted the Zimmerman note, we found out that Mexico was trying to gain their land back that was then ours. And if we didnt enter the war then they would have taken their land back with the central powers as back up.

  4. ARAB KNIGHT!
i feel like it was a great decision, being offensive in my opinion is much better than laying back in the shadows and letting other countries get stronger. And obviously it was a wise choice because because of WWI, America becomes the top dog.

  5. (I already added this in early Feb. but it looks like it disappeared.) I can see why Wilson entered the US into war--the assisination of Franz, sinking of Lusitania, trade issues, sinking of AMerican ships, and the conflicts between the nations--but I don't think it was justified. Wilson said he wanted the US to remain neutral. We were not on France and Great Britian's side and we were not against Germany. They should resolve their own issues. If we did not become involved, who knows what would have happened. Maybe there would never have been Hitler and the bad that came from him. Brandon Jones, 2/29/12
