the roaring 20's

Why is this era described as a "Turning point", in American History?

  1. This era was a turning point because there was a lot of prosperity and wealth after WW1. America paid its debt and then started collecting debts from other countries. Warren Harding talked about normalcy in America. This was a social, artistic and cultural time. There was a lot of dancing, music, art, sports, and movies. Technology brought cars, roadside signs, public services and gas. More workers had jobs, even women were working. It was a happy, wealthy time in America.

  2. It was a very big turning point because many things changed in the 1920'S. America after WW1 had a ton of money. Many things changed and it started with the younger ages, especially the younger women, ages 18,19,20,21 they rebelled. They didnt want to be like there parents and some became flappers. Well entertainment also changed, there were sports, movies, and also different music. There were model T's in every corner. The country went from gray and boring, to crazy fun flashy new ideas.

  3. The 1920s was a turning point because it had a major effect on the economy and society. This was the era when people started spending more money and buying more things that werent a necessity. They also started by stock on margin soon leading to the effect of the stock market crash. Many women during this time started cutting their hair, and acting more like men and independent because they wanted to feel equal with men. It was a rebellious time for them. It was also a big era of movies, music such as jazz, and new technology such as cars.

  4. The era was described as a turning point because in the 1920's it led to major effects on the countrys economy & the society as well. people began living life based more on material things then they had in the past, buying expensive things on credit. People began buying stocks on margin, which was one of the causes of the stock market crash. Women began rebelling against how they should act and wanted to have equal rights as men . Also it was a time when music, entertainment, and technology became a big deal .
